What tubing is used in Ray Magic radiant ceiling panels?

When it comes to the design of our Ray Magic panels, specifically the NK, G, and Q series, a vital component is the radiant tubing. We use an 8mm PE-RT tubing with an Oxygen barrier. A standard in Europe for the past 35 years for radiant applications, PE-RT offers several benefits which make it ideal for our panels.

Advantages of PE-RT Tubing

PE-RT tubing provides exceptional flexibility, which allows it to be easily shaped with a small radius of just 2 inches. This flexibility allows for a pattern of 3 15/16″ (100 mm) on center.

A key advantage of PE-RT is its minimal expansion and contraction due to temperature changes (within the range of 50F-120F). This results in reduced friction and noise between the tubing and the aluminum plates, which improves the performance and lifespan of our panels.

Moreover, using PE-RT contributes to the overall recyclability of all component parts of the panels, including the EPS and aluminum.

For seamless connections from manifolds to the panels, we recommend using our pre-insulated PEX-A pipe. This choice is primarily based on its popularity in the US market and its compatibility with the widely-used F1960 fittings technology. This ensures easy installation and reliable connections.

Note

PE-RT stands for Polyethylene Raised Temperature, a type of flexible tubing. PEX-A refers to a specific type of crosslinked polyethylene pipe. F1960 fittings technology refers to a specific type of expansion fitting used with PEX-A piping.
