What do the LEDs on the I/O controller indicate?

All Messana hydronic controllers use an I/O expansion module for different actuations and readings, which vary depending on the model of the Messana device.

For WHITE series models mBox, mZone 8, mZone J4, and BLACK series model mBox5, the IPG208 module is used.

For WHITE series models mBox Maxi, mZone 12, mZone J6, and BLACK series model mBox10, the IPG215 module is used.

Both models are equipped with status LEDs. Their functions are outlined below.

 

IPG208 Controller

POWER LED (green) – A solid light indicates that the device is powered. If the LED is off, verify that the Messana controller is receiving power and that the internal power supply is active (blue LED on).

Emerson I/O LEDs for Messana Controls

LED I (or LED Y) (yellow) – indicates the operating status of the controller:

  • During startup, it illuminates with a dim yellow and then transitions to a bright yellow.
  • Flashing yellow indicates that the device is operating normally.

IPG 215 Controller

Power ON LED on I/O device.

POWER LED (green) – A solid light indicates the device is powered. If the LED is off, check the fuse next to the LED, verify that the Messana device is receiving power, and ensure the internal power supply is active (blue LED on).

LED to indicate whether the controller is transmitting or receiving data.

LED Tx-Rx (yellow) – Flashes when the controller is transmitting (Tx) or receiving (Rx) data from the main controller.

LED1 (or LED Y) and LED ALARM (or LED R) – indicates the operating status or any alarms.

LED1 (or LED Y):

  • A solid light indicates the controller is currently updating.
  • A flashing light means the update has finished.

LED ALARM (or LED R):

  • A solid light indicates an internal malfunction in the controller. Please contact Messana Support.

LED1 (or LED Y) + LED ALARM (or LED R):

  • If both LEDs are flashing, the controller is functioning correctly.
