Yes! Messana Controls features a “window open logic” mechanism to optimize energy usage in a hydronic HVAC system when windows are open.
Each HVAC zone can be linked to several window contacts through digital inputs on the Messana control device. If a window stays open for at least 120 seconds, heating or cooling requests from that zone pause. They resume 30 seconds after the window closes.
Note
The minimum times for opening and closing are settable at macro-zone level. Default values are the following: minimum window open 120 seconds, minimum window close 30 seconds.
HVAC systems with air treatment (ventilation, dehumidification, humidification) also have a specialized window logic that can be enabled, with two operating modes: Full Off and Partialized.
Full Off mode halts all air treatment system operations when any linked window is open for a minimum period (default is 120 seconds).
Partialized mode adjusts operations based on the percentage of open windows in the zones served by the air treatment system. If less than 50% of windows are open, the system pauses operations for a proportionate amount of each half hour. For example, if 10% of windows are open, the system pauses for 3 minutes per half hour. If 40% are open, it pauses for 12 minutes. If more than 50% of windows are open, all operations cease.
