We recently performed a system start-up for this remarkable home in Salisbury, CT! The home uses a geothermal heat pump to produce hot and chilled water for heating and cooling via radiant floors and fan coils.
By utilizing Messana Controls, the home’s radiant floor can be used to provide cooling in addition to heating. This unique radiant floor cooling functionality is achieved by employing our mSense room comfort sensors to monitor the dew point temperature within the environment. By doing so, Messana Controls can intelligently regulate the supply water temperature, preventing the radiant surfaces from falling below the dew point and thereby avoiding the formation of condensation.
Although this project has no dedicated dehumidification units, Messana Controls will run the hydronic fan coils at a low fan speed while running cold water through the hydronic coil to provide dehumidification when necessary.
Key components of this system include:
This 6,976 sqft home in Palo Alto, CA, features three floors plus an ADU, with a complete hydronic heating and cooling system designed by Monterey Energy Group and managed by Messana Controls. Three Viessmann heat pumps, one serving each floor, generate heated and chilled water for a combination of radiant floor heating and cooling and Jaga hydronic fan coils.
This three-story, 7,000 sqft home features a sophisticated 11-zone hydronic system powered by two geothermal heat pumps. Messana Controls will manage heating and cooling throughout the home via a radiant ceiling, radiant floor, and Jaga Astrabeam hydronic fan coils, all working together as one integrated system.
