It’s Thermal Thursday, and today we’re showing off one cool hydronic system!
This system in Salisbury, CT, uses a geothermal heat pump to produce hot and chilled water for heating and cooling via radiant floors and fan coils.
Using Messana Controls, the home’s radiant floor provides both heating and cooling. The floor cooling capability is made possible through the use of our mSense room comfort sensors that monitor the environment’s dew point temperature. This allows Messana Controls to adjust the supply water temperature to keep the radiant surfaces above the dew point temperature to avoid condensation.
Despite the absence of dedicated dehumidification units, Messana Controls will run the hydronic fan coils in cooling at a low fan speed to provide dehumidification when necessary.
Key components of this system include:
This 6,976 sqft home in Palo Alto, CA, features three floors plus an ADU, with a complete hydronic heating and cooling system designed by Monterey Energy Group and managed by Messana Controls. Three Viessmann heat pumps, one serving each floor, generate heated and chilled water for a combination of radiant floor heating and cooling and Jaga hydronic fan coils.
This three-story, 7,000 sqft home features a sophisticated 11-zone hydronic system powered by two geothermal heat pumps. Messana Controls will manage heating and cooling throughout the home via a radiant ceiling, radiant floor, and Jaga Astrabeam hydronic fan coils, all working together as one integrated system.
