We’re excited to share yet another East Coast geothermal project!
This 4,000 sqft home in Westport Island, Maine, utilizes a GeoComfort geothermal heat pump as an energy source for its hydronic system. The 14-zone system uses Messana Controls to manage Jaga hydronic fan coils and a radiant floor.
Messana Controls allow the home’s radiant floor to provide radiant cooling in addition to heating. To provide cooling, mSense room comfort sensors monitor the environment’s dew point temperature. With this data, Messana Controls can adjust the supply water temperature to avoid condensation. Alternatively, Messana Controls can activate forms of dehumidification to lower the dew point temperature within the environment, increasing cooling output.
While this project does not utilize dedicated dehumidification units, Messana Controls can run the fan coils at a low fan speed while pumping cold water through the hydronic coil to provide dehumidification when necessary.
Mechanical Engineer: Ripcord Engineering
This 6,976 sqft home in Palo Alto, CA, features three floors plus an ADU, with a complete hydronic heating and cooling system designed by Monterey Energy Group and managed by Messana Controls. Three Viessmann heat pumps, one serving each floor, generate heated and chilled water for a combination of radiant floor heating and cooling and Jaga hydronic fan coils.
This three-story, 7,000 sqft home features a sophisticated 11-zone hydronic system powered by two geothermal heat pumps. Messana Controls will manage heating and cooling throughout the home via a radiant ceiling, radiant floor, and Jaga Astrabeam hydronic fan coils, all working together as one integrated system.
