Radiant Floor Cooling And Heating In Ellsworth, Maine

Another geothermal gem!

This ~5,000 sqft home in Ellsworth, Maine, uses a single Enertech Hydron geothermal heat pump to efficiently provide hydronic heating and cooling. The system ensures occupant comfort by utilizing a radiant floor and Jaga Briza 12 and 22 fan coils, which provide supplementary cooling and dehumidification.

By utilizing Messana Controls and mSense room comfort sensors, the radiant floor can be used to provide both radiant heating and cooling! This is because our mSense room comfort sensors will monitor the environment’s dew point, which allows Messana Controls to make adjustments to the supply water temperature to ensure the radiant surface never falls below the dew point and produces condensation! Additionally, Messana Controls may activate forms of dehumidification to lower the dew-point within the environment, allowing the radiant surface to reach a lower temperature, increasing cooling output.

Key components of this system include:
  • Enertech Hydron geothermal heat pump
  • Jaga Briza 12 (x5) & 22 (x2) fan coils
  • Grundfos pumps
  • Taco XPB
  • PAW mixing and non-mixing pump stations
  • Heat-Flo Inc. buffer tank
  • HTP boiler
  • Zehnder ERV
  • Webstone valves
  • Watts Water manifold
