This geothermal hybrid system in Rockport, ME, utilizes Messana Controls to manage heating and cooling via a variety of hydronic terminals!
The 6,400 sqft home is broken up into 14 separate zones across two stories. The first floor utilizes a single ducted hydronic fan coil and a radiant floor, while the second floor utilizes a Ray Magic® radiant ceiling, a radiant floor, and several Jaga hydronic fan coils!
By utilizing Messana Controls and mSense room comfort sensors, both the ceiling and floor systems can provide radiant cooling in addition to heating. This is because our mSense room comfort sensors will monitor the environment’s dew point, which allows Messana Controls to make adjustments to the supply water temperature to ensure the radiant surface never falls below the dew point and produces condensation! Additionally, Messana Controls may activate forms of dehumidification to lower the dew-point within the environment, allowing the radiant surface to reach a lower temperature, increasing cooling output.
Key components of this system include:
This 4,929 sqft home, designed by Integrated Design, includes 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a game room, and an office. A Ray Magic NK radiant ceiling system will provide heating and cooling throughout the home, and a Jaga Briza 22 fan coil will offer supplemental heating and cooling for the great room.
A look back at our recent Lunch N' Learn with Norelius Studio in LA! It was great discussing how hydronic systems can complement their thoughtful, sustainability-driven design approach.
